BNV : অম্মোনীয়দের রাজা নাহশের মৃত্যু হলে তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর পুত্র হানূন রাজা হলেন|
KJV : Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.
YLT : And it cometh to pass after this, that Nahash king of the sons of Ammon dieth, and his son reigneth in his stead,
RV : And it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.
RSV : Now after this Nahash the king of the Ammonites died, and his son reigned in his stead.

ERVEN : Nahash was king of the Ammonites. When Nahash died, his son became the new king.

BNV : দায়ূদ তখন বললেন, “নাহশের সঙ্গে আমার বন্ধুর সম্পর্ক ছিল, এই শোকের সময় তাঁর পুত্র হানূনকে আমার সহানুভূতি দেখানো কর্তব্য|” এই বলে তিনি অম্মোনে হানূনকে সমবেদনা জানাতে বার্তাবাহক পাঠালেন|
KJV : And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
YLT : and David saith, `I do kindness with Hanun son of Nahash, for his father did with me kindness;` and David sendeth messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And the servants of David come in unto the land of the sons of Ammon, unto Hanun, to comfort him,
RV : And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David-s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
RSV : And David said, "I will deal loyally with Hanun the son of Nahash, for his father dealt loyally with me." So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. And David's servants came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites, to console him.
ASV : And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And Davids servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
ESV : And David said, "I will deal kindly with Hanun the son of Nahash, for his father dealt kindly with me." So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. And David's servants came to the land of the Ammonites to Hanun to console him.
ERVEN : Then David said, "Nahash was kind to me, so I will be kind to Hanun, Nahash's son." So David sent messengers to comfort Hanun about the death of his father. David's messengers went to the country of Ammon to comfort Hanun.

BNV : কিন্তু অম্মোনীয় নেতারা নতুন রাজাকে কুমন্ত্রণা দিয়ে বললেন, “মোটেই ভাববেন না য়ে দায়ূদ সহানুভূতি জানানোর জন্য এই সব লোকদের পাঠিয়েছে| এরা আসলে দায়ূদের গুপ্তচর| দায়ূদ আপনার রাজ্য় ধ্বংস করতে চায় তাই আপনার ও আপনার রাজত্বের গোপন খবর সংগ্রহ করতে এদের পাঠিয়েছে|”
KJV : But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?
YLT : and the heads of the sons of Ammon say to Hanun, `Is David honouring thy father, in thine eyes, because he hath sent to thee comforters? in order to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out, the land, have not his servants come in unto thee?`

ERVEN : But the Ammonite leaders said to Hanun, "Don't be fooled. David didn't really send these men to comfort you or to honor your dead father! No, David sent his servants to spy on you and your land. He really wants to destroy your country!"

BNV : হানূন তখন দায়ূদের কর্মচারীদের গ্রেপ্তার করে তাদের দাড়ি কেটে পরণের পোশাক ছিঁড়ে তাদের ফেরত পাঠিয়ে দিলেন|
KJV : Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.

BNV : দায়ূদের কর্মচারীরা এভাবে ঘরে ফিরতে খুবই লজ্জা পাচ্ছিলেন| কয়েকজন গিয়ে দায়ূদকে তাঁর কর্মচারীদের দুর্গতির কথা জানালে তিনি খবর পাঠালেন, “দাড়ি আবার বড় না হওয়া পর্য়ন্ত তোমরা য়িরীহোতে থাকো| দাড়ি বড় হবার পর ঘরে ফিরে এসো|”
KJV : Then there went [certain,] and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and [then] return.
YLT : And [some] go, and declare to David concerning the men, and he sendeth to meet them -- for the men have been greatly ashamed -- and the king saith, `Dwell in Jericho till that your beard is grown, then ye have returned.`
RV : Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

ERVEN : David's men were too embarrassed to go home. Some people went to David and told him what happened to his men. So King David sent this message to his men: "Stay in the town of Jericho until your beards grow again. Then you can come back home."

BNV : অম্মোনীয়রা বুঝলেন য়ে তাঁরা নিজ দোষে নিজেদের দায়ূদের ঘৃণিত শএুতে পরিণত করেছেন| হানূন ও অম্মোনীয়রা তখন 75,000 পাউণ্ড রূপো মূল্যস্বরূপ দিলেন এবং মেসোপটেমিযা, মাখার শহরগুলি ও অরামের সোবা থেকে রথ আর তার জন্য সারথী ভাড়া করে আনলেন|
KJV : And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.
YLT : And the sons of Ammon see that they have made themselves abhorred by David, and Hanun and the sons of Ammon send a thousand talents of silver, to hire to them, from Aram-Naharaim, and from Aram-Maachah, and from Zobah, chariots and horsemen;

ESV : When the Ammonites saw that they had become a stench to David, Hanun and the Ammonites sent 1,000 talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen from Mesopotamia, from Aram-maacah and from Zobah.
ERVEN : The Ammonites saw they had caused themselves to become hated enemies of David. Then Hanun and the Ammonites used 75,000 pounds of silver to buy chariots and chariot drivers from Mesopotamia. They also got chariots and chariot drivers from the towns of Maacah and Zobah in Aram.

BNV : অম্মোনীয়রা 32,000 রথ আনলেন, এছাড়াও তাঁরা অর্থের বিনিময়ে মাখার রাজার সেনাবাহিনীর সাহায্য চাইলেন| মাখার রাজা আর তাঁর সৈন্যসামন্ত এসে মেদবা শহরের কাছে শিবির গেড়ে বসল| আম্মোনীযরাও শহর থেকে বেরিয়ে যুদ্ধের জন্য প্রস্তুত হতে লাগল|
KJV : So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
YLT : and they hire to them two and thirty thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people, and they come in and encamp before Medeba, and the sons of Ammon have been gathered out of their cities, and come in to the battle.

ERVEN : The Ammonites bought 32,000 chariots. They also paid the king of Maacah and his army to come and help them. The king of Maacah and his people came and set up a camp near the town of Medeba. The Ammonites themselves came out of their towns and got ready for battle.

BNV : দায়ূদ খবর পেলেন অম্মোনীয়রা যুদ্ধের তোড়জোড় করছে| তিনি তখন অম্মোনীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সেনাপতি য়োয়াবের নেতৃত্বে ইস্রায়েলের সমগ্র সেনাবাহিনী পাঠালেন|
KJV : And when David heard [of it,] he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
YLT : And David heareth, and sendeth Joab, and all the host of the mighty men,

KJV : And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come [were] by themselves in the field.

BNV : য়োয়াব দেখলেন তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সামনে ও পেছনে সশস্ত্র দুদল সেনাবাহিনী প্রস্তুত হয়ে আছে| য়োয়াব তখন ইস্রায়েলের কিছু সেরা সৈনিককে বেছে নিয়ে তাদের অরামের সেনাবাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে পাঠালেন|
KJV : Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put [them] in array against the Syrians.
YLT : And Joab seeth that the front of the battle hath been unto him, before and behind, and he chooseth out of all the choice in Israel, and setteth in array to meet Aram,

BNV : আর বাদবাকি সৈনিকদের তাঁর ভাই অবীশযের নেতৃত্বে অম্মোনীয় সেনাবাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে পাঠালেন|
KJV : And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set [themselves] in array against the children of Ammon.

BNV : য়োয়াব অবীশয়কে বললেন, “অরামের সেনারা যদি আমার পক্ষে বেশি শক্তিশালী হয় তো তুমি আমায় সাহায্য করতে এসো| আর যদি ওরা তোমার চেয়ে বেশি শক্তিশালী হয় তো আমি তোমায় সাহায্য করব!
KJV : And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
YLT : And he saith, `If Aram be stronger than I, then thou hast been to me for salvation; and if the sons of Ammon be stronger than thou, then I have saved thee;
RV : And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

BNV : চলো এবার বীরত্ব ও সাহসের সঙ্গে আমাদের ঈশ্বরের শহরগুলোর জন্য ও আমাদের দেশের লোকদের জন্য ওদের ওপর ঝাঁপিযে পড়ি| তারপর তো সবই প্রভুর ইচ্ছে!”
KJV : Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do [that which is] good in his sight.
YLT : be strong, and we strengthen ourselves, for our people, and for the cities of our God, and Jehovah doth that which is good in His eyes.`
RV : Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.

BNV : এই না বলে, য়োয়াব অরামীয় সেনাবাহিনীর ওপর ঝাঁপিযে পড়লেন| অরামীয় সেনারা তখন পালাতে শুরু করল|
KJV : So Joab and the people that [were] with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.
YLT : And Joab draweth nigh, and the people who [are] with him, before Aram to battle, and they flee from his face;
RV : So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

ERVEN : Joab and the army with him attacked the Aramean army. The Arameans ran away from Joab and his army.

BNV : আর অম্মোনীয় সেনারা যখন তাদের পালাতে দেখল, তখন তারা নিজেরাও অবীশয় আর তাঁর সেনাবাহিনীর হাত থেকে প্রাণ বাঁচানোর জন্য পালাতে শুরু করল| অম্মোনীয়রা নিজেদের শহরে আর য়োয়াব জেরুশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন|
KJV : And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
YLT : and the sons of Ammon have seen that Aram hath fled, and they flee -- they also -- from the face of Abishai his brother, and go in to the city. And Joab cometh in to Jerusalem.

ERVEN : When the Ammonite army saw that the Aramean army was running away, they also ran away. They ran away from Abishai and his army. The Ammonites went back to their city, and Joab went back to Jerusalem.

BNV : অরামীয় নেতারা, তাঁরা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের কাছে হেরে গিয়েছেন দেখে ফরাত্‌ নদীর পূর্বদিকের অরামীয়দের কাছে সাহায্য চেয়ে দূত পাঠালেন| শোফক ছিলেন অরামের রাজা হদরেষরের সেনাবাহিনীর সেনাপতি| শোফক অন্য অরামীয় বাহিনীরও নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that [were] beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer [went] before them.
YLT : And Aram seeth that they have been smitten before Israel, and send messengers, and bring out Aram that [is] beyond the River, and Shophach head of the host of Hadarezer [is] before them.
RV : And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head.
RSV : But when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
ASV : And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head.
ESV : But when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
ERVEN : The Aramean leaders saw that Israel had defeated them. So they sent messengers to get help from the Arameans living east of the Euphrates River. Shophach was the commander of Hadadezer's army from Aram. Shophach also led the other Aramean soldiers.

BNV : দায়ূদ যখন অরামের সেনাবাহিনীদের যুদ্ধের জন্য একত্র হবার খবর পেলেন, তিনিও ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের একত্র করে তাদের যর্দন নদীর ওপারে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন এবং অরামীয় সেনাবাহিনীর মুখোমুখি হয়ে তাদের আক্রমণ করলেন|
KJV : And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
YLT : And it is declared to David, and he gathereth all Israel, and passeth over the Jordan, and cometh in unto them, and setteth in array against them; yea, David setteth in array the battle to meet Aram, and they fight with him;

ERVEN : David heard the news that the Arameans were gathering for battle, so he gathered all the Israelites. David led them across the Jordan River, and they came face to face with the Arameans. David got his army ready for battle and they attacked the Arameans.

BNV : তারা প্রাণ বাঁচাতে পালাতে শুরু করল| দায়ূদ ও তাঁর সেনাবাহিনী 7,000 অরামীয় সারথী, 40,000 অরামীয় সেনা ও অরামীয়দের সেনাপতি শোফককে হত্যা করলেন|
KJV : But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand [men which fought in] chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
YLT : and Aram fleeth from the face of Israel, and David slayeth of Aram seven thousand charioteers, and forty thousand footmen, and Shophach head of the host he hath put to death.

KJV : And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.

ERVEN : When Hadadezer's officers saw that Israel had defeated them, they made peace with David. They became his servants. So the Arameans refused to help the Ammonites again.
